A Good Neigbour Guide that seeks fairness and simplicity
Why and For Whom?
The Good Neigbour Guide’s objective is to meet the needs and expectations of the citizens of Malartic and to address their concerns, with a special focus on and concern for those residing near Canadian Malartic Mine. The Guide’s development stems from a collaborative approach launched with the community in the spring of 2015.
The Guide sets out viable, real-life solutions for living together better.
Impact mitigation measures.
Financial compensation for all citizens of Malartic.
Guidelines on the acquisition of properties available to all owners of a principal residence in the southern sector.
At the same time, Canadian Malartic Mine undertook to provide its action plan to prevent, manage and mitigate the impact of its activities, and to discuss it with the Working Group. The action plan deals specifically with air quality, noise and blasting.
Working Group members have further committed to work with local stakeholders to develop and implement a common vision for revitalizing Malartic in order to create a positive living environment.
The Guide was developed by the Working Group on Coexistence Issues in Malartic, which has three (3) delegates from each of the following organizations:
- Town of Malartic;
- Canadian Malartic Monitoring Committee; and
- Canadian Malartic Mine.
